Who are we?

At Paper Son Coffee we believe that what makes “good coffee” is deeply personal.

Our core principles are:

1) Serve locally roasted coffee. The Bay is home to so many good roasters and we are proud to showcase what makes our local scene unique.

2) Create approachable beverages across the coffee enthusiast spectrum.

3) Incorporate Asian flavors and coffee in our drinks.

Why “Paper Son”?

The name of the coffee shop is an homage to how our founder’s family (and so many Chinese Americans in San Francisco) immigrated to the US.

Why is it relevant to a coffee shop? Historically the paper son relationship meshed a business transaction with familial connection. Existing citizens claimed and accepted new immigrants as kin to help them cross the ocean.

We want to approach interacting with the community in the same way. What does this mean? Helping other small businesses succeed and making our customers feel welcomed!
